Stavanger (04-11-2016): Wellesley Petroleum AS (“Wellesley” or “The Company”) has received confirmation from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy that the Company is now pre-qualified as an Operator of production licences on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Wellesley will now look to build an operated licence portfolio through licence rounds and commercial acquisitions, focusing on exploration and appraisal opportunities.
Chris Elliott, CEO of the Wellesley Group of companies commented: “We are pleased to be qualified to assume the responsibilities of operating licences on the NCS. Our aim is to develop into an active exploration operator that matures licences towards drill decisions and operates the subsequent drilling activities. Operatorship allows us to drive exploration activity on the NCS, which we still consider to be a highly prospective area.”
