Non-Executive Chairman
Peter is a former member of the Statoil Executive Board. He holds master degrees in politics, economics and law from the Universities of Oslo and Bergen.
Between 1977 and 1983 he worked in the Norwegian Ministry of Trade and Commerce and then in the Norwegian Export Council, a private-public organisation.
Peter subsequently joined Statoil where he worked initially in marketing and sales of natural gas, becoming Head of these activities in 1986. In this position he led the negotiations of the extensive set of sales contracts that created the commercial foundation for the development of the Troll and Sleipner fields and the associated pipeline infrastructure.
In 1992 Peter became the Head of the Natural Gas Business Unit comprising marketing, sales, processing and transportation of natural gas. Peter joined the Statoil Executive Board in 1996. In 2004, he was appointed the Head of Statoil’s International Exploration and Production Business Unit and under his tenure, Statoil’s international production grew from less than 100 000 bbld to approximately 650 000 bbld.
Peter retired from Statoil in the autumn of 2012. He currently holds several non-executive positions in companies in the oil and gas service sector.
